Crews Struggle Against Kent in Rough Waters

Eight crews traveled to Lake Cochituate on Wednesday to race Kent School and Wayland-Weston Crew.  High winds and cold temperatures made for rough conditions in all races.  The girls squad had a disappointing day, finishing second or third in all four races.  The boys squad did not fare much better, finishing second to Kent except in the B4 race.  Full results:

G1 G2 G3 G4
Kent 5:01.26 Kent 5:08.35 Kent 5:24.06 Kent 5:44.50
Exeter 5:06.40 Exeter 5:12.48 W/W 5:34.80 Exeter 5:57.07
W/W 5:08.03 W/W 5:22.34 Exeter 5:35.20 W/W 6:04.19

Kent 4:21.31 Kent 4:36.22 Kent 4:39.45 Exeter 5:02.72
Exeter 4:27.93 Exeter 4:42.09 Exeter 4:49.96 Kent 5:03.67
W/W 4:45.27 W/W 5:00.85 W/W 5:14.96

With temperatures hovering around 45 degrees and on and off rain, conditions were uncomfortable.  To top things off, strong 10-20 mph winds came out of the northwest around the 750m mark.  Kent crews coped best with the conditions, and dominated the regatta.

All boats are looking to regroup and get some of their momentum back as the season progresses.  Exeter will host Hanover this Saturday, racing at home on the Squamscott River.
